The Tacchinardi treasure can be found in Cornegliano Laudense where we can still taste the “gems” of the Offelleria (confectionery), winner of many prizes and sold to connoisseurs right on the spot where they are made, it is thanks to an unbroken tradition according to which the Tacchinardi name has stood for “good taste” in Lodi, down through the years. The Tacchinardi confectionery was situated in Palazzo Vistarini until very recently (2005). This favoured meeting spot in the heart of Lodi was more than just a delicious place: it was a special point for contacts, events, meetings and the fame left behind by the Tacchinardi family. The Bogoni family, which now runs the famous Offelleria, is not only carrying on the Tacchinardi tradition but is also looking ahead to the challenges for confectionery in the future: the 100 years anniversary of the “Tacchinardi Panettone” was celebrated in 1932, and the year 2008 saw the celebration of prestigious awards won at recent confectionery exhibitions in Milan, by the Torta di Lodi (“Lodi cake”, now also made in version of chocolate, pistachios and hazelnuts) and the Bacione di Lodi. All deliciously prepared by Massimo Bogoni and his wife Tiziana. In November 2007, at the 12th Wine and Food Festival held in Monte Carlo, on the Cote d’Azur, the Tacchinardi products as a whole, by a unanimous vote, won the 2007 ‘Grand Prix’ awarded by the local Slow Food chapter. Every speciality, from the famous almond Tortionata to luscious cannoli rolls filled with mascarpone cream and countless traditional pastries, is available for the pleasure of young and old, for the people that just happen to be passing through… and for the ones that come back. What is more, collaboration with the University of Milan, Faculty of Food Science and Technology, DISTAM Department, marks a watershed in the confectionery’s way of doing business: there is now a new option of “takeaway” cakes that keep longer. Freshness and wholesomeness are guaranteed by modified atmosphere packaging (therefore, no preservatives) and so the classic masterpieces of Tacchinardi confectionery are also available in snack portions.
